Geçen asır sonlarında Tahtakale’nin ayak takımı ve esnaf kahvehanelerinin en büyük ve namlılarından biri idi. Meşhur Kanbur Mehmed’in orta oyunu takımı da bu kahvehaneye müracaat ile tutulurdu ki 1300-1310 arasında, günlük gazetelerinde o [...] arz (d?) buyurulduğu takdirde Tahtakale’de Lefter’in kahvehanesinden sual buyurula diye ilanları görülür.
